Frequently Asked Questions...
What are Flower Essences?
Flower essences are liquid, energetic remedies made from flowers or trees. Unlike herbal extracts or essential oils which use the physical properties of a plant, these remedies work vibrationally to heal on an emotional level. Because of their energetic quality, they work directly and deeply in our systems to address issues of emotional well-being, soul development, and mind-body health.
Are flower essences a new form of healing?
No. The earliest written record of their use is by the 16th century healer, Paracelsus, who collected dew from flowers to heal emotional disharmony. In modern times, flower essences were rediscovered, by Dr Edward Bach, a prominent English physician whose approach was to treat the patient's temperament and mood rather than the bodily symptoms because he believed that the cause of disease often lies in negative emotional states such as fear, depression, guilt and anxiety.
Why haven't I heard of flower essences before?
Modern medicine teaches us to address symptoms rather than the root cause of an illness. If you want to cure an emotional or physical imbalance in your body than you treat the whole person (body, mind and spirit) and address the underlying cause. Flower essences are a form of healing that address underlying causes. Healing the whole person has sustainable results unlike healing a symptom which offers temporary relief.
How do they work?
Everything is made up of energy. Just like humans, every flower has an energetic imprint, a spirit, an essence.
When you meet the essence of the plant, your energy shifts just like when you meet a person.
For example, let's say you're moved or inspired by music or a work of art, after hearing or seeing it, your vibration will shift, you feel different because it's left an energetic imprint. That's how flower essences work through the medium of water.
Does healing on an energetic or vibrational level really work?
Yes. Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine, some of the oldest healing traditions on Earth, work in the same way to remove subtle energy blocks through practices like acupuncture and herbs. When energy is flowing freely through the body we experience health and well-being. Some other forms of vibrational healing include:
• Homeopathic remedies
• X-rays, CAT Scanners and MRI
• EMR scanning and electrography
• Gem and crystal elixirs
• Chromotherapy
• Sound healing
• Bio-Electric or Physioacoustic devices
• Electrotherapy
• Radionics
Can I give my pet Flower Essences?
Yes! Animals respond well to Flower Essences. They are wonderful to help pets adjust to new surroundings and/or other animals; ease anxiety; address strange behaviors; and so much more.
Are there any side effects?
No, flower essences have no side effects and are safe for everyone, including children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with allergies, and those taking prescription drugs. They contain only minute traces of actual physical substance; they are primarily vibrational in nature, as are homeopathic remedies. This means that they are non-toxic and have no direct impact upon the body’s biochemistry, as do many pharmaceutical and psychoactive drugs. Therefore, there is no such thing as an overdose or even any harm from flower essences.
What does a Flower Essence Practitioner do?
A flower essence practitioner holds space like a therapist* or a coach, working with clients in a one-on-one setting to discuss what's present for the client and areas of life where support is needed.
The practitioner uses flower essences as a catalyst to shift energies, bring awareness to and release stored emotions, traumas or blocks which will set the client on a path of healing and self-discovery. The essences can also be formulated to address acute emotional and physical issues.
